Title: Impacts of heat on emergency department visits for mental health, in Curitiba, Brazil
Julia is a medical doctor, graduated in 2020, in Brazil. Currently, she is a doctoral student at the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health since May, 2022, where she studies the intersection between climate change and mental health (MH). Julia focuses on patients from low- and middle-income countries, such as those from Brazil, as they receive less scientific attention and are, at the same time, at the highest heat vulnerability. Besides, she is highly interested on how the socioeconomic background influences this heat susceptibility, and on the possible barriers that MH patients might face when seeking an emergency center – stigma, lower MH literacy, lack of means of transportation, etc.
